Digital Nomad Bali Life – Why I’m Never Going Home

I’ve been gone now for over a year. I left November 1st to the Philippines and now I’m here living digital nomad Bali life with no plans to go home.

Vancouver is great, really such an incredible city, but the biggest downside is the super cold and rainy winter. Sometimes it rains for two weeks straight without a single day of sunshine. Bali is the exact opposite!

Beautiful weather and beaches is great, but surrounding myself with the people that inspire me to grow spiritually in health, body, & mind is priceless.

It’s not that Vancouver doesn’t have people like that, there’s just way more of them here.

Bali attracts a lot of people who focus on personal growth & fitness. Here I have lots of entrepreneur friends that inspire me to do better, push harder, & live at my edge.

Some of them have 8 figure businesses & are ridiculously smart. Surrounding myself with people who are few steps ahead of me on their work in Bali is super valuable.

When I’m doubting my abilities or feeling insecure, I go out to dinner with some of these inspiring entrepreneurs and I always feel much better. It normalizes the craziness of business and up-levels my mindset.

Hanging out together is nourishing for our head space rather than blasting it with alcohol or being an outlet to complain about our lives to each other like some of my past friend groups.

I get a similar effect here with fitness, I’m in the best shape of my life for strength & physical appearance.

That’s largely due to paying for a $300 per month gym membership… seems ridiculous? Worth every penny, and here’s why.

Only a certain type of person will pay $300 per month for a gym, so that means I’m surrounded by a strong community of those people.

The average level of performance at this gym is insane! There’s guys doing one arm handstands, weighted muscle ups, & everyone is in incredible shape.

Just being there every day, talking to people, exchanging ideas, & motivating each other has completely shifted my own standards for physical fitness and allowed me to find another level that’s eluded me for decades.

And of course I can’t forget to mention how much further your dollar goes here. I pay less for a luxury room in a poolside villa 1 minute from the beach than I did for a crappy micro apartment in downtown Vancouver.

And the expensive restaurants here are the same price as a KFC family meal back home.

It’s impossible to get this kind of value for money in Vancouver, and the access to amazing food, gyms, activities, & adventures is the same or better. It just costs way less!

There are tons of reasons why I love Bali more than Vancouver, but in reality it boils down to the people. There’s such a strong community of conscious entrepreneurs, movers, acroyogis, dancers, and generally interesting people here.

Everyone in Bali has something about them. I feel that only a certain type of person is willing to drop everything they know to move half way across the world to the “island of the misfit toys” just to join this crazy group of expat explorers.

It’s such an amazing community I’m willing to spend long periods of time away from my family and friends in Canada. At this point in my life, exploring this side of my self is the most fulfilling thing I could possibly be doing.

Best coworking space Bali? Dojo is my go to. If you stop by, say hi!

Bali is love and I love Bali 🙂
